Medical experts address guava leaf water and kidney health

Medical experts have addressed concerns regarding whether drinking guava leaf water daily can cause kidney damage. According to Dr. Ngô Đức Phương, Director of the Institute of Traditional Medicine, there is currently no scientific evidence suggesting that consuming guava leaf tea or water in normal doses causes kidney damage in healthy individuals.

Dr. Huỳnh Tấn Vũ from the University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City noted that in traditional medicine, guava leaves possess properties that help clear heat, detoxify, and support various ailments. The leaves contain tannins, which are often used to treat diarrhea and digestive issues. Additionally, research indicates that guava leaf extracts may help control blood sugar and reduce bad cholesterol, potentially offering cardiovascular benefits.
