Medical experts advise on optimal timing for seasonal vaccinations
Medical professionals are providing guidance on the optimal timing for seasonal vaccinations as autumn approaches. For influenza, experts warn against vaccinating too early, as protection typically lasts six to eight months and may wane before the end of the flu season. It is generally recommended to consider the flu shot in October or November.
For older adults, particularly those aged 60 and above, doctors emphasize the importance of reviewing vaccination records. Recommendations include shots for Herpes Zoster (shingles), pneumococci, COVID-19, and RSV. While the Herpes Zoster vaccine is highly sought after and sometimes faces temporary shortages, medical experts note that new supplies arrive regularly and the vaccine can be administered at any time of year.
