Medical experts advise personalized hormone therapy for menopause
Medical experts emphasize that hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for menopause symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, and sleep disturbances, must be tailored to the individual. Dr. Faik Tamer Sözen, an Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Liv Hospital Ulus, notes that while HRT can be effective, a one-size-fits-all approach is inappropriate.
Treatment decisions should consider a patient's age, the severity of symptoms, general health status, and personal risk factors. Certain conditions may make hormone therapy unsuitable, including a history of breast or uterine cancer, unexplained vaginal bleeding, previous blood clots, certain liver diseases, and specific cardiovascular diseases. For women with a uterus, systemic estrogen therapy often requires the addition of progesterone to protect the uterine lining.
