Medical experts emphasize early intervention for stroke at international congress
At the 6th International Emergency Medicine Congress held in Kemer, Antalya, medical experts highlighted the critical importance of rapid response and early symptom recognition in stroke cases. Prof. Dr. İsmail Tayfur, the congress president, warned that delays of even three to four hours due to misinterpreting symptoms as fatigue or age-related issues can lead to irreversible physical damage or death.
Key symptoms identified include speech impairment, loss of strength in limbs, loss of balance, and facial asymmetry. Experts stressed that family members must play an active role in recognizing these signs and immediately contacting the 112 Emergency Call Center to ensure patients reach facilities capable of providing clot-dissolving medications or mechanical thrombectomy.
A consensus report aimed at improving pre-hospital care and ensuring patients are transported to appropriate medical centers will soon be shared with the scientific community. Additionally, the discussion touched upon the future role of artificial intelligence in emergency services, suggesting it will support physicians in decision-making and patient assessment processes rather than replacing them.
