Medical experts highlight early warning signs of arthritis
Medical professionals are emphasizing the importance of recognizing early symptoms of arthritis to prevent irreversible damage. Experts note that joint pain should not be dismissed as a natural consequence of aging or ordinary growing pains.
In children, juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) can manifest through morning stiffness, unexplained limping, swelling in large joints like knees or ankles, or systemic symptoms such as daily fevers and salmon-colored skin rashes. Because younger children may struggle to articulate pain, behavioral changes can also serve as indicators of inflammation.
For adults, orthopaedic doctors warn that persistent stiffness and swelling require investigation to distinguish between conditions like osteoarthritis and autoimmune rheumatoid arthritis. Timely diagnosis is critical when joint pain begins to interfere with daily activities, such as walking, working, or performing fine motor tasks.
