Medical experts in Romania discuss dietary impacts on health

Medical specialists in Romania are providing guidance on the health impacts of common dietary choices.

Endocrinologist Dr. Virgiliu Stroescu has warned against the consumption of white bread, linking it to issues such as anemia and osteoporosis due to a lack of fiber. He advocates for whole grain bread, noting that its higher fiber, vitamin, and mineral content supports digestive health, satiety, and stable blood glucose levels. He also advised against consuming frozen commercial bread, suggesting homemade whole grain alternatives instead.

Neurosurgeon Dr. Vlad Ciurea discussed the potential benefits of moderate red wine consumption. He noted that red wine contains resveratrol, a natural antioxidant found in dark grapes, which may protect nerve cells and maintain vascular health. According to Dr. Ciurea, moderate intake may assist in preventing strokes and improving retinal function, though he emphasized that excessive alcohol consumption remains harmful to the brain and general health.
