Medical experts in Spain highlight nutrition and endocrinology advances

Experts at recent and upcoming medical congresses in Spain are highlighting the evolving role of nutrition and endocrinology in managing health and aging. At the 41st Congress of the Spanish Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (SENPE), nutrition professor José María Ordovás emphasized that while nutrition cannot stop aging, it can significantly modulate how the body ages. He noted that Mediterranean dietary patterns—rich in vegetables, olive oil, legumes, and fish—are linked to improved cardiovascular health and cognitive preservation.

In a separate context, Miguel Ángel Martínez Olmos, president of the local committee for the 67th Congress of the Spanish Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition (SEEN), addressed the rising prevalence of obesity, diabetes, and metabolic disorders. He highlighted significant advancements in understanding hormonal and metabolic mechanisms, noting that the field is increasingly integrating artificial intelligence and personalized medicine to improve clinical assistance and research. The SEEN congress is scheduled to take place in Santiago de Compostela in October 2026.
