Medical experts Christoph Reisinger and Bettina Pfleiderer note that victims often present with non-specific symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, gastrointestinal issues, or unexplained memory loss, which can lead to misdiagnoses. These physical signs may go unnoticed by healthcare providers unless they are trained to recognize patterns of chemical submission.

Recent legal cases in Berlin and high-profile international incidents, such as the Gisèle Pelicot case in France, have brought the scale of these crimes to light. Advocates from organizations like Lara e.V. in Berlin emphasize that victims often only realize they were assaulted after discussions with others or by noticing suspicious circumstances surrounding periods of unconsciousness or sedation.
