Medical experts warn against normalizing persistent chronic pain
Medical specialists emphasize the importance of seeking professional evaluation for persistent pain rather than normalizing recurring symptoms. Chronic pain, often resulting from spinal degeneration, disc issues, or joint inflammation, can significantly impact mental health and daily activities.
In Peru, data from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) indicates that during the first quarter of 2026, only 34.1% of the population with chronic health problems sought medical attention, leaving 65.9% untreated. Experts warn that delaying evaluation for symptoms such as joint stiffness, recurring inflammation, or limited mobility can hinder the identification of underlying causes.
