Doctors warn against using An Cung for stroke emergencies

Medical experts in Vietnam are warning against the misuse of An Cung Ngu Hoang Hoan as a preventative measure or emergency treatment for strokes. Doctors emphasize that there is no scientific evidence proving the product can prevent strokes, and using it during a suspected medical emergency can be dangerous.

Dr. Doan Du Manh from Phuong Dong General Hospital noted that relying on the product can cause patients to miss the ‘golden hour’ for effective medical intervention, which is critical for recovery. Additionally, attempting to administer oral substances to a patient during a stroke increases the risk of choking.

Associate Professor Nguyen Lan Hieu, Director of Hanoi Medical University Hospital, highlighted that the product is not a ‘miracle drug.’ He warned that because strokes can manifest as either ischemic or hemorrhagic, administering a product that affects blood clotting without a proper diagnosis could exacerbate brain hemorrhages. He also noted that some ingredients in the traditional formula can be toxic and should be used with extreme caution.
