Medical experts warn of delayed symptoms following traffic accidents

Medical experts warn that individuals involved in traffic accidents should monitor for delayed symptoms, even if no immediate visible trauma or severe pain is present. Due to the body's tension during an accident, pain may not be fully perceived until several days later.

Common delayed sequelae include neck and back pain, shoulder stiffness, headaches, dizziness, and numbness in the limbs. These symptoms often result from the sudden impact causing strain on muscles, ligaments, and joints, particularly the cervical spine during rapid movement.

Healthcare providers recommend a comprehensive assessment that considers the direction and intensity of the impact, the timing of symptom onset, and the patient's pre-existing spinal or joint conditions. Treatment approaches may include X-rays, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and Chuna manual therapy. In cases where symptoms are severe or require continuous monitoring, inpatient care may be advised to facilitate recovery.
