Medical experts warn of rising cancer rates and key symptoms

Medical professionals are warning of a rising trend in cancer diagnoses, particularly among individuals under the age of 50. Experts suggest that environmental factors, such as exposure to pesticides, microplastics, and 'forever chemicals,' alongside dietary changes and lifestyle shifts, may contribute to this increase.

Oncologists emphasize the importance of early detection, noting that symptoms should not be dismissed as mere stress or aging. Key warning signs include unintentional weight loss—specifically five kilograms or more within a few weeks without changes in diet or activity—and chronic, debilitating fatigue that does not improve with rest.

Regarding colorectal cancer specifically, Dr. Karan Rajan identifies five critical warning signs: persistent abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, extreme fatigue (which may result from iron deficiency due to internal bleeding), rectal bleeding, and lasting changes in bowel habits such as diarrhea or constipation. Prevention strategies include increasing fiber intake, avoiding smoking and e-cigarettes, and reducing alcohol consumption.
