Medical experts warn of rising stroke and cardiac risks in young adults

Medical experts are warning of the increasing risk of stroke and sudden cardiac death among young adults. Dr. Doan Du Manh, Deputy Director of the International Cardiovascular and Stroke Center at Phuong Dong General Hospital, noted that strokes in younger populations often occur without clear warning signs due to their high physical resilience, which can mask underlying issues until a severe event occurs.

Key risk factors and conditions identified include:

- Lifestyle triggers: Prolonged sleep deprivation, excessive working hours, heavy labor, and intense physical exertion can trigger events in individuals with underlying conditions. - Congenital issues: Conditions such as Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome can cause severe arrhythmia and sudden cardiac arrest, even in individuals who appear healthy. - Cerebral aneurysms: Undetected brain aneurysms pose a significant risk, as sudden spikes in blood pressure during high-intensity activities like marathon running or football can lead to ruptures and cerebral hemorrhages.

Experts advise that individuals with potential vascular abnormalities should undergo medical evaluation before engaging in high-intensity exercise.
