Medical experts warn of risks regarding unintentional weight loss

Medical professionals warn that unintentional weight loss can be a significant health indicator. According to Dr. João Marques Santos, a family physician at CUF, weight loss is considered clinically relevant when an individual loses 5% of their body weight in less than six months without changes to diet or physical activity.

Investigation is particularly urgent for individuals over the age of 60, as unexplained weight loss in this demographic may be associated with more serious conditions, such as neoplasia (cancer).
