Medical experts warn of stress-induced heart syndrome and varied cardiac symptoms
Medical specialists are highlighting the importance of recognizing diverse symptoms of cardiovascular distress, including Takotsubo syndrome, also known as “broken heart syndrome.” This condition, triggered by extreme emotional stress or severe impact, can mimic the symptoms of a heart attack, such as intense chest pain and difficulty breathing, even when coronary arteries remain clear of obstructions.
Experts note that chronic stress and poor sleep habits can damage the cardiovascular system by constantly activating the body's alert system, increasing heart rate and blood pressure. Additionally, women face specific risks, particularly after menopause. While chest pain remains the most common symptom for both genders, women are more likely to experience less specific accompanying symptoms, such as nausea, intense fatigue, shortness of breath, or pain in the back and jaw. These symptoms are often misattributed to anxiety, stress, or digestive issues, potentially delaying necessary medical intervention.
