Medical experts weigh in on Joeman’s Chlamydia test results

Content creator Joeman and his ex-girlfriend, Xiao Yi, are involved in a public dispute regarding sexually transmitted infections. Following Xiao Yi’s report of a positive Chlamydia DNA test on August 14, Joeman released a negative test report from August 22 to refute claims that he transmitted the infection.

Medical professionals have provided context regarding the limitations of these results. Surgeon Wu Xin-dai noted that a negative DNA test only indicates that a significant amount of the virus or bacteria is not present at the current moment, and does not prove a person has never been infected.

Additionally, specialist Liao Yi-an explained that while a negative urine DNA test shows no active infection, it does not account for past infections. Liao suggested that testing for Chlamydia IgG antibodies would be a more definitive way to determine if an infection occurred in the past, noting that IgG antibodies can persist even after an infection has cleared.
