Medical facilities in Costa Rica and Argentina upgrade gastroenterology services

Medical facilities in Costa Rica and Argentina have expanded their gastroenterology services through new equipment and specialized units.

In Costa Rica, the San Carlos Hospital acquired advanced gastroenterology equipment valued at 178 million colones. Donated by the Junta de Protección Social (JPS) to the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS), the technology includes two high-definition video endoscopy towers, two colonoscopes, two gastroscopes, and two duodenoscopes. The upgrade is expected to benefit 400,000 patients by providing more precise 4K imaging for diagnosing ulcers, cancer, and biliary issues.

In Argentina, the Centro Integral de Salud La Banda (CISB) inaugurated its first Digestive Endoscopy Unit within the public health system in La Banda. Led by gastroenterologist Dr. Gonzalo Quinteros, the unit will perform high and low digestive endoscopies and video colonoscopies. This new service aims to improve access to complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for the local population and the eastern provincial corridor, specifically focusing on the prevention of colorectal cancer.
