Medical facilities in Cuenca upgrade diagnostic and surgical technology

Medical facilities in Cuenca, Ecuador, and Cuenca, Spain, are upgrading their technological capabilities to improve patient care.

The Hospital de Especialidades José Carrasco Arteaga in Ecuador has fully restored its Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) service. Following a technical intervention costing USD 30,460, which included helium recharging and component calibration, the hospital can now provide continuous specialized studies for complex pathologies without using ionizing radiation.

In Spain, the Government of Castilla-La Mancha is advancing the technological equipping of the new Neurosurgery Unit at the Hospital Universitario de Cuenca. With a budget of 2,266,000 euros allocated by the Servicio de Salud de Castilla-La Mancha (SESCAM), the hospital is conducting tenders for advanced equipment. This includes an intraoperative CT scanner for real-time surgical verification, a 3D exoscope for high-resolution visualization, and an ultrasonic aspirator for tumor resection.
