Medical graduates receive specialized certifications in Venezuela and Chile
In Venezuela, 30 final-year medical students have been officially certified in Venezuelan Sign Language (LSV) by the Ministry of Popular Power for Health. The certification follows the completion of a basic course designed to improve communicative inclusion within the public health system. The initiative aims to provide future doctors with the linguistic tools necessary to interact with deaf or hearing-impaired patients, ensuring more accurate diagnoses and equitable access to clinical services.
In Chile, the University of Concepción (UdeC) celebrated the graduation of 147 new medical specialists. The cohort included 76 women and 71 men, a distribution that Faculty of Medicine Dean Ana María Moraga noted reflects a significant shift in the gender composition of medical specialization. During the ceremony, graduates emphasized the importance of balancing scientific precision with human sensitivity and addressed the professional challenges regarding work-life balance and burnout in the medical field.
