Vietnam advances medical training and practitioner assessment standards

Vietnam is advancing its medical sector through new institutional partnerships and regulatory preparations. Opella and Hoan My Medical Group have entered a cooperation agreement focused on three pillars: professional medical training, scientific exchange, and community health education. This partnership aims to provide continuous medical education (CME) and clinical consultation skills for healthcare workers while promoting public awareness in areas such as bone, gut, and maternal health.

In a separate development, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine is set to sign a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Saigon – Gia Lai International Eye Hospital (part of the GEMs Healthcare System). The collaboration will focus on clinical practice, scientific research, and developing high-quality medical human resources, establishing the hospital as a clinical training site for students and young doctors.

On a regulatory level, the National Medical Council is preparing for the first official assessment of medical practitioner competence, scheduled for 2027. Preparations include finalizing essential professional subject lists for doctors in general medicine, traditional medicine, dentistry, and preventive medicine, as well as developing a secure question bank and testing software to ensure objective and transparent evaluations.
