Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria inducts Fountain University graduates
The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) has inducted 43 Medical Laboratory Science graduates from Fountain University in Osogbo, Osun State. The induction took place during the institution’s third oath-taking ceremony.
Representing the MLSCN Registrar, Dr. Donald Ofili, Dr. Akinwale Akinlabi emphasized that laboratory science is a critical pillar of the healthcare system, providing approximately 70 per cent of the data required for clinical decisions. The Council warned graduates against bypassing the compulsory one-year internship programme, stating that failure to complete the internship and obtain a full practising licence before enrolling in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) would be considered quackery.
Dr. Ofili noted that the Council will monitor the conduct of the inductees to ensure professional integrity and public health protection. Fountain University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, highlighted the growth of the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) program and the recent construction of a dedicated medical laboratory science complex.
