Medical professionals issue warnings regarding pediatric health risks
Medical experts in Vietnam are highlighting critical health warning signs in children. At Children's Hospital 1 in Ho Chi Minh City, doctors successfully removed a massive 15 kg ovarian tumor from a 14-year-old girl. The tumor, measuring 40 x 30 x 30 cm, had caused rapid abdominal swelling and difficulty walking. Surgeons focused on preserving the patient's reproductive function during the procedure.
Separately, at the Vietnam-Sweden Uong Bi Hospital, doctors diagnosed a 14-year-old patient weighing 108 kg with type 2 diabetes. The patient exhibited acanthosis nigricans, a condition characterized by dark, thickened skin in areas like the neck and armpits, which can indicate insulin resistance. Medical professionals advise parents to monitor rapid weight gain and skin changes as potential indicators of metabolic disorders.
