Medical reports detail tetanus recurrence and dual cancer diagnosis
Medical professionals have reported two distinct and significant clinical cases involving severe health complications.
A 67-year-old woman experienced a critical recurrence of tetanus at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases. Nearly 20 days after being discharged for tetanus, she presented with jaw stiffness and full-body spasms, requiring mechanical ventilation. Doctors discovered a 3cm bamboo fragment remained lodged in her leg from an injury sustained two months prior. The presence of this foreign object likely caused the recurrence of the Clostridium tetani infection.
In a separate case, doctors at K Hospital successfully performed simultaneous surgeries on a 45-year-old woman diagnosed with two independent cancers. After presenting with vaginal bleeding, a biopsy revealed cervical adenocarcinoma. During preoperative assessments, an endoscopy also identified an early-stage gastric tumor. Using 3D endoscopic technology, surgeons performed a radical hysterectomy and a gastrectomy with lymph node dissection, both of which were successful.
