Medical research and innovation highlighted in Italian scientific events

Several medical and scientific events are scheduled in Italy to highlight advancements in research and technology. In Fiumicino, the Rotary Club Fiumicino Portus Augusti, along with several partner clubs, will host a public meeting titled ‘The Role of Medicine and Scientific Research’. The event aims to discuss clinical progress and prevention culture, featuring contributions from medical specialists, journalists, and researchers covering topics such as scientific information, oncology, and nutrition.

In Pisa, the Internet Festival will host an event titled ‘Electronic Beats’, marking the 60th anniversary of the first self-synchronizing pacemaker developed at the National Research Council (CNR) laboratories in 1966. The session will trace the evolution of cardiac electrostimulation from early transistor-based devices to modern implantable technology, remote monitoring, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare. The event will also include the presentation of a book on the history of pacemakers and the inauguration of a permanent exhibition featuring the original 1966 prototype.
