Medical teams in India manage high-risk pregnancies
Medical teams in India have successfully managed two high-risk pregnancies involving life-threatening complications.
In Visakhapatnam, doctors at KIMS Seethammadhara treated a nine-month pregnant woman who suffered an acute ischemic stroke. The medical team, including specialists in neurology and gynaecology, performed an emergency mechanical thrombectomy to remove a blood clot from a major brain artery. The procedure achieved complete restoration of blood flow while minimizing radiation exposure to the foetus. The woman subsequently delivered a healthy baby boy.
In Hyderabad, doctors at Gandhi Hospital managed the pregnancy of a 22-year-old woman suffering from Eisenmenger syndrome, a rare and severe heart condition characterized by pulmonary hypertension and congenital heart defects. Following a specialized cardiac management protocol, the patient underwent an elective Caesarean section at 37 weeks and delivered a healthy baby boy. The mother was monitored in intensive care and later discharged in stable condition.
