Medical teams in India perform complex surgeries to remove large tumors

Medical teams in India have successfully performed two distinct and complex surgical procedures involving large tumors.

At Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur, Rajasthan, doctors removed a massive 28.6 kg retroperitoneal tumor from a 59-year-old woman. The high-risk, three-hour surgery required extreme precision to protect vital organs and blood vessels, including the liver, pancreas, bladder, and major arteries, which were adhered to the tumor. The procedure was conducted free of charge under the Rajasthan government’s RGHS scheme. The patient is currently in stable condition in the ICU.

In a separate case at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Rewa, surgeons successfully performed a laparoscopic surgery to remove a 3.5 kg ovarian tumor from a four-month pregnant woman. The medical team prioritized the safety of both the mother and the fetus, coordinating across anesthesia, surgery, obstetrics, and radiology departments. Following the successful minimally invasive procedure and blood transfusions to stabilize her hemoglobin, the patient was discharged after four days.
