Medical technology upgrades and healthcare milestones reported in Spain and Venezuela
In Spain, the Castilla-La Mancha government has authorized a 1.35 million euro investment to upgrade breast biopsy technology. The project includes installing state-of-the-art biopsy tables at the Hospital Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro in Albacete, as well as in hospitals in Ciudad Real and Guadalajara. This new technology utilizes three-dimensional imaging and tomosynthesis to detect millimeter-sized lesions that may be hidden in conventional mammographies, while also reducing radiation exposure for patients.
In Venezuela, the Salud y Vida Plan has reported the successful completion of 2,660 hemodynamics procedures so far this year. Vice President of Health Isabel Iturria stated that this figure exceeds initial annual projections. High-volume centers for these free catheterization procedures include the Hospital Universitario de Caracas, Hospital Vargas de Caracas, and Hospital Victorino Santaella Ruiz. Additionally, over 1,287 pacemakers have been implanted for free across 15 hospitals, supported by a new national electronic tracking system.
