Medical University of Graz launches postviral syndrome course
The Medical University of Graz has launched a new university course dedicated to the diagnosis and therapy of postviral syndromes, including Long Covid, ME/CFS, and Post-Acute Infection Syndromes (PAIS).
Led by Thomas Weber and deputy leader Andrea Grisold, the program is designed for doctors and other healthcare professionals. It is structured as a part-time course spanning two semesters, though individual modules can be taken separately. The curriculum utilizes an interprofessional approach, combining diagnostic methods, therapeutic options, and current research findings to create a unified understanding among various medical disciplines.
The initiative aims to improve care structures by bringing specialized knowledge directly into clinics, outpatient departments, and nursing and therapy sectors. In addition to the academic course, a specialized contact point is expected to begin operations at the Graz University Hospital by 2026. The program is also integrated with two ongoing research projects.
