Medical volunteers and healthcare teams launch community health initiatives in China

In Longkou, Yantai, Beihai Hospital participated in the launch of the 2026 ‘Healthy Weight Management Year’ and chronic disease management promotion event. Medical teams from the hospital’s endocrinology, rehabilitation, and health management departments provided blood pressure monitoring, dietary guidance, and scientific weight loss education to help residents manage metabolic diseases like obesity and diabetes.

In Chongqing, the ‘Silver Age Action’ volunteer service program has deployed 10 retired medical professionals to the Wulong, Shizhu, and Youyang districts. For one month, these volunteers—specializing in internal medicine, gynecology, medical imaging, pharmacy, and nursing—will provide medical and elderly care assistance to grassroots healthcare facilities and social welfare institutions in mountainous areas. The initiative aims to improve local medical service levels and transfer professional expertise to frontline workers.
