Medical warning issued after weight loss injection user diagnosed with cancer
A woman who purchased weight loss injections online nearly lost her life after experiencing severe symptoms. While she initially suspected the medication, medical examinations revealed that her persistent vomiting was actually caused by a tumor causing a gastric outlet obstruction, rather than side effects from the injections.
Dr. Huang Wei-fu of Chimei Hospital noted that the patient's symptoms continued to worsen even a month after she stopped using the injections, which indicated the issue was unrelated to the drug's duration of action.
Medical professionals are warning against purchasing prescription medications through unauthorized online channels. Doctors emphasize that GLP-1 weight loss drugs are prescription-only and should be used by individuals meeting specific BMI or health criteria. Patients are urged to disclose all medication use to doctors to avoid misdiagnosis and delayed treatment for underlying conditions.
