Medicana Bursa emphasizes preventive medicine during Public Health Week

During Public Health Week, organized by the Ministry of Health under the theme ‘Public Health Every Day,’ Medicana Bursa Hospital General Manager Dr. Özcan Akan emphasized the importance of preventive medicine. He stated that modern medicine's responsibility extends beyond treating illnesses to implementing preventive measures before individuals become sick.

Dr. Akan highlighted that public health is a broad vision covering all life stages, from the womb onward. The current initiative focuses on seven key themes: maternal and child health, vaccination awareness, combating addiction, monitoring chronic diseases, active living, cancer screenings, and fighting obesity.

He specifically noted that regular screenings for diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases are vital, and that early diagnosis significantly impacts the success of cancer treatments. Dr. Akan urged citizens in Bursa to prioritize regular health check-ups and not to postpone medical controls, noting that a healthy society is the foundation of a strong future.
