Medicare for All criticized as unrealistic and unaffordable

A cancer survivor and taxpayer has criticized the proposal of ‘Medicare for All,’ labeling the pledge as unrealistic, unaffordable, and a form of political pandering. The author argues that politicians promising universal coverage lack credibility because the current system remains difficult to navigate and insufficient in its coverage.

Drawing from personal experience, the author notes that even after meeting a deductible, significant medical expenses can remain uncovered. In one instance, services totaling over $600,000 in 2025 resulted in ongoing bills and collection calls, despite Medicare participation. The author also expressed opposition to expanding Medicare roles to include illegal immigrants until the program fully covers costs after deductibles are met.
