Medicinal cannabis market in Brazil reaches 55 active authorizations

The medicinal cannabis market in Brazil is expanding, with 55 active sanitary authorizations currently held by 25 companies, according to data from ANVISA. The five largest holders control 24 products, representing 44% of the total market. Major pharmaceutical players such as Eurofarma, Aché, Prati-Donaduzzi, Herbarium, Teuto, and Farmoquímica are among those with active authorizations.

This growth is reflected in a 29% increase in import authorizations in 2026, driven by higher prescriber acceptance and patient demand. Medical professionals are increasingly focusing on evidence-based applications, such as refractory epilepsy, chronic neuropathic pain, and spasticity in multiple sclerosis.

Looking ahead, the industry faces a significant renewal cycle. Ten authorizations are set to expire between late 2026 and mid-2027, involving companies like Endogen, Promediol, Greencare, Active Farmacêutica, and Cosmed. Industry experts emphasize the importance of operating within regulatory frameworks to ensure long-term investment stability.
