Medikea secures $1.2 million to expand Tanzanian healthcare network
Tanzanian healthtech startup Medikea has raised $1.2 million in a pre-seed funding round to expand its integrated healthcare model. The Dar es Salaam-based company aims to consolidate medical services—including consultations, diagnostic laboratories, and pharmacies—under a single provider to reduce the need for patients to travel between multiple facilities.
The funding will support the expansion of physical clinics, technology development, staff recruitment, and general operating costs. Medikea plans to grow its current network of four clinics to 10 by the end of 2027. The company has already expanded its presence to Arusha and Morogoro, complementing its operations in Dar es Salaam and Dodoma.
Founded in 2022 by medical professionals and software engineers, Medikea employs over 40 healthcare workers and has served more than 50,000 patients. The startup provides specialized services in areas such as women’s health, pediatrics, and chronic disease management, catering to both private payers and those with insurance coverage.
