Medikol wins first legal battle against Ivana Kekin

The Municipal Civil Court in Zagreb has ordered the continuation of proceedings in the second of seven lawsuits filed by Poliklinika Medikol against Možemo! MP Ivana Kekin. The court rejected Kekin’s objection to characterize the lawsuit as a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (SLAPP).

Medikol claims the legal action is necessary following five months of what it describes as continuous and repeated falsehoods spread by Kekin in the public sphere. The clinic alleges that Kekin is intentionally politicizing a single private healthcare institution among more than 3,000 HZZO partners to cause reputational damage.

Kekin has previously questioned the business relationship between Medikol and the state, specifically regarding PET/CT scan partnerships and debt write-offs. Medikol has denied these allegations, describing them as malicious and inaccurate. The clinic is seeking 10,000 euros in damages in each of the seven civil lawsuits.
