Northern Italy faces severe weather alerts and new tourist medical services

Severe weather warnings have been issued across Northern Italy, with Lombardy facing an orange alert for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and potential hail. The Civil Protection agency warns of hydrogeological risks, particularly in the Como province and Orobie Bergamasche areas. Significant rainfall accumulations are expected, with some regions potentially seeing up to 200 mm over 24 hours. Local authorities, including the municipality of Saronno and Bergamo, have activated emergency protocols and closed public parks to ensure safety.

In Emilia-Romagna, a yellow alert has been issued for the central and western Apennines, with worsening conditions expected to bring persistent thunderstorms to the region.

Separately, in the Medio Lario district, a specialized medical service for tourists has been activated from August 17 to September 15. This paid service handles non-urgent health issues at the Community Houses in Porlezza and Centro Valle Intelvi. Residents and foreign visitors can access services by appointment on weekdays, while Porlezza offers walk-in access on weekends.
