Mediterranean diet associated with lower risk of Alzheimer’s and cognitive decline

Research presented at the XXXV National Congress of the Spanish Society of Nutrition highlighted that adherence to the Mediterranean diet – rich in leafy greens, nuts, oily fish and berries – is linked to a reduced risk of cognitive deterioration and Alzheimer’s disease. Scientists explained that the antioxidant and anti‑inflammatory properties of these foods can protect brain health over time.

The congress, held in Valladolid, Spain, gathered more than 250 experts who also discussed advances in precision nutrition, including the use of artificial intelligence to personalize dietary recommendations. The findings reinforce dietary choices as a modifiable factor for long‑term neurological health.
