Mediterranean Economic and Social Forum addresses migration crisis

At the Mediterranean Economic and Social Forum, experts discussed the geopolitical, economic, and humanitarian challenges posed by the migration crisis, particularly in light of recent tensions in Ceuta.

Historian Robert D. Kaplan addressed the demographic evolution facing Europe, noting that the continent will undergo a significant identity shift due to African population growth. He emphasized that Africa and the Mediterranean are geopolitically linked, a relationship dating back to the Roman and Greek empires.

From an economic standpoint, Mariana Mazzucato of University College London argued that Mediterranean countries lack a unified strategy for regional challenges. She advocated for the creation of a true European public development investment bank to improve public-private collaboration.
