Mediterranean maritime leaders discuss port investments and shipping corridors

Maritime stakeholders and government representatives are focusing on port infrastructure and shipping investments across the Mediterranean. In Salerno, Italy, port authorities from the Tyrrhenian, Ionian, and Strait regions hosted shipowners to promote the connectivity of Southern Italian ports. Representatives from companies including Star Clippers, Grand Circle, and Aman at Sea visited the Zaha Hadid-designed cruise terminal. Aman at Sea has confirmed it will begin embarkations from Salerno in 2027 with the inaugural season of the yacht Amangati.

In Limassol, Cyprus, Italian and Cypriot delegations met to discuss port investments and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). The discussions, supported by DP World and involving the Italian Trade Agency, covered maritime corridors, terminal management, and shipping compliance. The forum highlighted the economic importance of shipping in Cyprus, where the sector accounts for approximately 7 percent of the GDP, and explored opportunities for Italian superyacht shipyards and port services.
