MEDNIGHT to host scientific events across six Mediterranean countries
MEDNIGHT, the Mediterranean Night of Female Researchers, is scheduled to return on September 25, 2026. The event will feature nearly 1,000 researchers across seven cities in six Mediterranean countries, including Valencia, Montpellier, Toulouse, Messina, Sarajevo, Xanthi, and Istanbul.
The initiative aims to bring scientific research out of laboratories and universities to engage directly with the public through workshops, experiments, demonstrations, and exhibitions. Topics will range from health, biodiversity, and sustainability to artificial intelligence, robotics, digital technologies, and cultural heritage.
Professor Gülsün Sağlamer, President of the European Women Rectors Association (EWORA), stated that the event views the Mediterranean as a space for cooperation and shared knowledge rather than a border between nations. The program is designed to invite citizens, particularly young people, to participate in a common scientific community.
