MedusApp launches free jellyfish‑watch map for Spanish beaches

MedusApp is a free mobile and web application that lets beachgoers in Spain check for jellyfish sightings before heading to the shore. Users can view an interactive map displaying recent reports, with icons indicating location, species and risk level. The platform also accepts new observations, allowing contributors to upload photos or text, which are verified and marked with a blue check when confirmed. Jellyfish are colour‑coded by sting severity – white (harmless), yellow (mild), orange (sting‑provoking) and red (highly dangerous) – giving users a quick risk assessment. In addition to the map, MedusApp provides a species guide, seasonal appearance data and expert‑approved advice on how to treat stings. The crowdsourced approach aims to keep information up‑to‑date in real time, helping swimmers plan safer outings during the summer months.
