Meena Geltink and Minal Tijssen discover they are biological sisters

Meena Geltink and Minal Tijssen, who met as teenagers in 1996 at an event for adoptees, have discovered they are biological sisters. After being raised in different Dutch families, a recent commercial DNA test revealed their true kinship.

Both women were originally left in orphanages in India as infants before being adopted by separate families in the Netherlands. Although they grew up over 130 kilometers apart, they formed a close friendship during their teenage years. After losing regular contact for approximately 15 years, Minal Tijssen conducted a DNA test that identified Meena Geltink as her sister.

The two recently reunited in Den Bosch to process the discovery. Geltink described the revelation as finding a missing piece of a puzzle, noting that she had felt an emptiness in her heart for many years.
