Meerut police detain man for flying unauthorized drone during CM Yogi's event

A young man was detained by police in Meerut after flying an unauthorized drone during a program where Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was showering flower petals on Kanwar pilgrims.

Senior Superintendent of Police Avinash Pandey reported that while a government drone was operating with prior permission, a second drone was spotted flying without authorization, causing alarm among security personnel. The City SWAT team tracked the device and apprehended the operator at the landing point.

The suspect, a resident of the Medical police station area, claimed he was an enthusiast blogger attempting to cover the Kanwar Yatra and the Chief Minister's event. He stated he was unaware of the specific regulations regarding drone usage. Police have seized the drone and all recorded footage, and are conducting forensic examinations and reviewing the individual's social media profiles as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
