Meerut shooter surrenders at SSP office fearing police encounter

A shooter identified as Ravish surrendered at the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) office in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, fearing a police encounter during arrest. Ravish arrived carrying a poster seeking forgiveness from the Chief Minister and promising to cease criminal activities.

The incident follows a shooting attack on a scrap businessman named Haroon, who was reportedly shot multiple times following a dispute over a transaction involving approximately 24 lakh rupees. While Ravish claimed the shots were fired accidentally during a struggle, police recovered a .32 bore pistol and six live cartridges from his possession.

Ravish stated that his decision to surrender was driven by the fear that police might shoot him in the leg during an attempted arrest, a sentiment reflecting the strict law enforcement climate in the state.
