Meerut: Woman threatens self-harm with knife outside SSP office

A woman staged a protest outside the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) office in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday, brandishing a knife and threatening self-harm. The incident lasted approximately thirty minutes, causing significant commotion and drawing a crowd near the sensitive government office.

The woman, identified as a resident of the Sardhana police station area, alleged that she had been harassed by a man named Vinay for about a month. She claimed that despite her previous attempts to file complaints with the police, no effective action had been taken, forcing her to seek attention directly at the SSP office.

Police officers managed to calm the woman and eventually took her into custody after she sustained minor injuries during the incident. SP City Vinayak Gopal Bhosle confirmed that officers intervened to prevent her from harming herself. The woman is currently receiving medical treatment for her injuries, and police are investigating her allegations of harassment and negligence.
