MEGA announces new period drama series ‘Kanakara’
MEGA has announced the launch of ‘Kanakara’, a new period drama series set in the Dodecanese islands during the 1950s. The production is inspired by a Greek tradition of matriarchy, where the eldest daughter inherits the family home and assets.
The story follows twin sisters, Erinia and Sofia, whose lives diverge significantly due to their birth order. The plot explores themes of sacrifice, family secrets, and the tension between personal desire and social obligation when Erinia, unable to conceive, asks Sofia for a profound sacrifice.
Directed by Stamos Tsamis, with a screenplay by Sofia Kazantzian and Mario Iordanou, the series features a large ensemble cast including Christina Alexanian, Nikos Arvanitis, and Eleni Vergoti.
