Mega Track: The unusual V12 off-road supercar from Aixam

In the early 1990s, the French manufacturer Aixam, primarily known for producing compact microcars, launched a specialized division called Mega to establish credibility in the high-performance automotive sector. This venture led to significant competitive success, including three Andros Trophy championships with the Mega Glace and a second-place finish at the 2000 Dakar Rally with the Mega Desert.

The most notable achievement of this era was the 1992 Mega Track, an unconventional off-road supercar. The vehicle featured a mid-mounted Mercedes M120 V12 engine—the same engine used in the Pagani Zonda—producing approximately 400 hp and 570 Nm of torque. Despite weighing over two tons, the Track could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

Designed for versatility, the Mega Track utilized an all-wheel-drive system with a rear-biased torque distribution (68% rear, 32% front). A defining feature was its adjustable suspension system, which allowed the vehicle to achieve a ground clearance of up to 34 centimeters, enabling high-performance driving across diverse terrains.
