Megabús resumes emergency operations in Pereira and Dosquebradas
The Megabús mass transit system has resumed operations in Pereira and Dosquebradas under a contingency plan following an earthquake. The service is currently in a testing phase, operating from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
To ensure safety, articulated buses are traveling at reduced speeds and are strictly prohibited from carrying standing passengers. Due to infrastructure concerns, the Cuba Interchange remains closed, with feeder buses redirected to the El Viajero station to facilitate transfers.
Additionally, users must replace their old Megatarjetas at the El Viajero station or Parque Olaya on 21st Street, as the previous card technology is incompatible with the current system. Due to these operational changes, 21st Street is temporarily restricted to Megabús buses and feeder vehicles, with private cars and motorcycles prohibited from the area.
