Megadeth concert cancelled at Lisbon's MEO Arena, fans react

Megadeth was scheduled to perform on Sunday, 5 July, at the Evil Live festival in the MEO Arena, Lisbon. A few minutes before the 20:50 start time, an organizer announced that the show would not take place. The audience, already waiting for about half an hour, responded with boos, whistles and objects thrown onto the stage, and many left the venue. Marilyn Manson’s set began later at 22:30.

The cancellation occurred during the band’s farewell tour, which has been linked to frontman Dave Mustaine’s health issues, including a diagnosis of Dupuytren contracture that prevents him from playing. The promoter, Prime Artists, released a brief statement confirming the cancellation but gave no further explanation and directed ticket‑holders to the event’s website for updates. Several attendees have posted on social media demanding refunds, though festival rules do not automatically guarantee them.

Organizers said they will provide more information in the coming hours regarding possible compensation for ticket holders.
