Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine sees memoir and farewell tour success

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine is experiencing significant commercial success as the band embarks on a multi-year farewell tour. His new autobiography, ‘In My Darkest Hour’, co-written with Joe Layden, has debuted at number four on The New York Times Hardcover Nonfiction best sellers list. The memoir chronicles Mustaine’s battle with squamous cell carcinoma and how the experience influenced the creation of the band’s sixteenth studio album.

Regarding touring, Mustaine announced that the band’s upcoming runs will include stops in the United States, Europe, Asia, New Zealand, and Australia. He noted plans to return to Korea and expressed interest in performing in India and South Africa. The next scheduled performance is set for November 7, 2026, in Auckland, New Zealand.

Mustaine confirmed that Anthrax and Kerry King will join the band on the next leg of the tour. Subsequent European dates are expected to feature Black Label Society and Testament. Mustaine also addressed his degenerative hand condition, Dupuytren’s contracture, stating he will continue performing until the quality of the shows is negatively affected.
